Dissent On Recession’s End

Earlier on Monday, the National Bureau of Economic Research’s Business Cycle Dating Committee — the group that determines the start and end dates of recessions — said that it could not yet declare an end to the recession that began in December 2007.



One committee member, Robert J. Gordon, has issued a dissenting opinion, arguing that the recession ended in the second quarter of 2009, probably in June. The text of his memo is below.
